NSF H1 and 3H? What’s the difference?
What is NSF certified?
NSF classifies food-grade lubricants into H1, H2, and H3 categories. H1 lubricants are suitable for “incidental contact” between lubricants and food or beverage products. They can be used as protective anti-rust films, gaskets, or sealants for food processing equipment, or as lubricants for mechanical components and equipment in areas where contact with food is possible.
Why should I use NSF H1 lubricant?
According to the different exposure risks, baking oven production lines, conveyor equipment, and mixers require the use of NSF H1 certified lubricants to reduce the risk of secondary contamination caused by lubricants.
What is NSF 3H certified?
NSF requires food processing substances to adhere to the NSF 3H specifications when used as food-grade mold release agents in food processing applications.
Why should I use NSF 3H lubricant?
Using vegetable-based or white mineral oil products as a release agent on the dough divider, it comes into contact with the dough. Therefore, it is required to use oil with NSF 3H certification to reduce the risk of secondary contamination and to ensure food safety. The NSF 3H certification ensures that the oil meets specific hygiene requirements, making it safe for use in food processing equipment, ensuring the oil could contact with food directly.
