PROCOAT is a chemical company based in Barcelona, Spain, founded in 1972. It was the first company to develop a metal surface chemical treatment based on organic-inorganic components: surface film chemical treatment.

ProCoat Tecnologias S.L.U., located in the province of Barcelona, was established in 1972. Its founder and president, Mr. Juan Brugarolas Fábregas, is a chemist who led the development of the BRUGAL® technology, which utilizes chemical methods to treat metal surfaces.

This is a passivation product specially designed by the PROCOAT team based on nanotechnology and incorporating trivalent chromium:

– Provides top-tier corrosion protection, even surpassing hexavalent chromium passivation products.
– Exhibits excellent coating performance.

This product has been used by numerous reputable electroplating facilities for over 5 years. These facilities, with passivation bath capacities exceeding 1,000,000 units of passivating solution, have reported no complaints of white rust issues.

Non-hazardous

Research from INRIS safety data documents shows that there is no relevant study indicating carcinogenicity of trivalent chromium to animals (IARC, 1990).

A study by Elbetieha and Alhamood in 1997 indicated that trivalent chromium did not significantly worsen fertility in mice.

Another study by ATSDR in 1993 showed that trivalent chromium, when orally absorbed, was not toxic to mice.

Based on various scientific literature, it can be concluded that the use of BRUGAL® GALVAPAS® 320 passivator is unlikely to harm animals upon contact, especially after the process of chromate conversion coating.

Over the past 5 years, over 1,000,000 liters of our eco-friendly products have been used. Since participating in the European Surface Treatment Association conference in Seville in June 2016, 14 European electroplating companies have conducted certification tests on the product.
